A Prop Firm With No Hidden Rules: Every ForRealFunding Rule, Published

Every prop firm has rules. A firm with no hidden rules publishes all of them before you pay — including the funded-stage limits and payout conditions that most firms leave in the fine print. Below are the eight rules that most often surprise traders, ForRealFunding's exact version of each (including the ones that are stricter than you might like), and the drawdown limits for every program.

The 8 rules prop firms usually hide — and ours

These are the clauses behind most "my payout was denied" stories. Check any firm against this list before you buy — including this one.

Rule 1

Consistency / best-day cap

Where firms hide it: Usually buried in the payout terms, not the challenge page.

ForRealFunding: No consistency rule during the evaluation. On a funded Pay After Pass account a Stability Rule applies: no single trade or day can be more than 25% (1-Step) or 30% (2-Step) of total funded profit at payout time.

Rule 2

News-trading profit removal

Where firms hide it: Often a single line in the FAQ that only matters once you are funded.

ForRealFunding: Evaluations: trade any news, no restriction. Funded accounts: profit from a trade opened or closed within the published window around a high-impact release (5–10 minutes) may be removed — the account is not breached, and trades held through the release are not affected.

Rule 3

Minimum trade duration

Where firms hide it: Rarely on the pricing page; common reason for voided profits.

ForRealFunding: Not applied during evaluations. On funded and Instant accounts every trade must stay open at least 30 seconds (first violation is a warning, the second a breach). The prohibited-practices policy sets one minute as a valid trade, so holding a minute keeps you clear under both.

Rule 4

Risk-per-trade / 'gambling' clauses

Where firms hide it: Vague wording that lets a firm close a profitable account.

ForRealFunding: Stated with a number: on funded accounts, an unrealised loss on one instrument above 50% of your daily drawdown limit may be treated as a breach (One-Sided Risk Exposure). Martingale, grid and all-or-nothing trades are prohibited on every account.

Rule 5

Evaluation vs funded rules

Where firms hide it: Many firms advertise the easy evaluation limits and never show the funded ones.

ForRealFunding: Funded limits are tighter than evaluation limits and we say so: the Pay After Pass evaluation allows 8% daily / 15% static max loss, the funded stage is narrower. Your exact funded limits are shown in the configurator and on your dashboard before you trade them.

Rule 6

Payout timing and withdrawal conditions

Where firms hide it: 'Fast payouts' with no cycle, minimum, or method stated.

ForRealFunding: First reward 30 days after your first funded trade, the second 21 days later, then every 14 days. $100 minimum, no open trades at request time, processed in 1–2 business days. A 14-day-from-start add-on exists and must be chosen at checkout.

Rule 7

Copy trading, hedging and account sharing

Where firms hide it: Found only after an account is closed for 'correlated trading'.

ForRealFunding: Copy trading between your own ForRealFunding accounts is allowed. Hedging across other brokers or firms, copying other traders, sharing logins and account-passing services are prohibited. IP addresses are monitored for account sharing.

Rule 8

Time limits and inactivity

Where firms hide it: 'No time limit' that quietly means 30 days of inactivity.

ForRealFunding: No maximum time limit on any evaluation phase and no deadline on the funded account. Weekend and overnight holding is allowed on every stage.

Evaluation drawdown limits, every program

Evaluation-stage limits, measured from your starting balance unless marked trailing. Verified 2026-08-25. Funded-stage limits are tighter and are shown per account size in the evaluation configurator.

Rules that apply to every account

Stop-loss isn't mandatory, but treat it as if it were

You can trade without a stop-loss, but a single adverse move without one can be enough to blow through a daily or overall drawdown limit — which closes the account immediately, evaluation or funded.

30-second minimum hold time — funded & Instant accounts only

Once you're funded (or on Instant Funding), every trade must stay open at least 30 seconds. A first violation is a warning; a second is an immediate, permanent breach. This does not apply during evaluation phases.

Weekend & overnight holding is allowed everywhere

Every stage, evaluation and funded, permits holding positions overnight and through the weekend. Watch gap risk on reopen and any swap/rollover fees on the instruments you hold.

EAs are allowed — HFT and latency exploitation are not

Expert Advisors and automated strategies are welcome on every account. High-frequency trading, tick scalping, and exploiting execution latency are prohibited, and every trade (manual or automated) must still meet the minimum hold time on funded accounts.

News trading: free in evaluations, one nuance once funded

Trade through any news event with no restriction during a challenge. On funded accounts, profit from a trade opened or closed within 5–10 minutes of a high-impact release may be removed — the trade itself isn't breached, only that profit.

Trade like a professional, not a gambler

Size your risk sensibly and you'll never think about this rule. Martingale/grid systems, all-or-nothing trades, and consistently oversized single-trade risk are the only things that can get an account closed for abusive risk behavior, even without a hard numeric breach.

It's your account, your trade

Simple principle: hedging across other brokers or prop firms, sharing login credentials, letting someone else trade for you, and copy trading with anyone outside your own ForRealFunding accounts are all prohibited.

KYC is required once — after you pass, before funding

Identity verification (ID + proof of address) happens only after you pass an evaluation, and only once you need it to activate a funded account. It isn't required to start a challenge.

$500,000 maximum funded allocation per trader

You can run multiple funded accounts at once, but the combined funded capital across all of them caps at $500K. Anything you pass beyond that is held until an existing account frees up capacity.

Scale up after you're funded

You're not locked into one account size — once you pass and get funded, you can take on a funded account of any size for your next challenge, up to the combined $500,000 funded allocation across all your accounts.

When your fee comes back

The refund milestone is part of the rules too, so here it is for every program.

  • Instant Funding: Your fee is refunded after your 5th payout.
  • FRF Pro — 1-Step: Your fee is refunded after your 3rd payout.
  • FRF Pro — 2-Step: Your fee is refunded after your 3rd payout.
  • Pay After Pass — 1-Step: Your fee is refunded after your 4th payout.
  • Pay After Pass — 2-Step: Your fee is refunded after your 4th payout.

FAQ

Is there a prop firm with no hidden rules?

No legitimate prop firm has no rules — drawdown limits, prohibited practices and payout conditions exist everywhere. 'No hidden rules' should mean every one of them is published before you pay, including the funded-stage rules and payout conditions. ForRealFunding publishes all of its rules, including the ones that tighten after you pass, on this page, in the evaluation configurator and in the FAQ.

Which prop firm rules are most often 'hidden'?

The ones that only matter at payout time: consistency or best-day caps, profit removal around news on funded accounts, minimum trade duration, vague 'gambling' or risk-per-trade clauses, and funded-stage drawdown limits that are tighter than the evaluation's. Read a firm's payout terms and prohibited-practices policy, not just the challenge page.

Does ForRealFunding have a consistency rule?

Not during the evaluation. Once a Pay After Pass account is funded, a Stability Rule applies at payout time: your largest single trade or day can't exceed 25% of total funded profit on the 1-Step, or 30% on the 2-Step. Steady accumulation passes it; one outsized winner followed by a payout request does not.

Can ForRealFunding change the rules after I buy?

The rules shown when you buy are the rules for that account. Policy changes are published with a date — for example, the funded-account news rule applies only to trades taken on or after 4 September 2025 — rather than applied retroactively to trades already placed.

Are there hidden fees with Pay After Pass?

No. You pay $9.99 to start, and the remaining fee — fixed and shown before checkout — is due only after you pass. Optional add-ons (100% split, 1:100 leverage, 14-day payouts, swap-free) are priced as a percentage at checkout and cannot be added later. The fee is refunded after your 4th payout on Pay After Pass programs.
