Free Prop Firm Challenges & Trading Competitions
There are two kinds of “free” at prop firms. Free trials let you practise a challenge but never pay out. Free trading competitions can — the top finishers win a funded account or an evaluation, usually monthly. Everyone else's cheapest route to a real payout is a pay-later evaluation from about $5–$10, such as ForRealFunding's $9.99 Pay After Pass.

Alpha Capital's and Audacity's top prizes are evaluations you still have to pass — not funded accounts.
Claim conditions
Expect KYC, activation deadlines (30 days at Audacity), country restrictions and sometimes a required social post.
Contest trading isn't funded trading
Leaderboards reward the biggest return; funded accounts reward staying inside a drawdown limit. The habits don't transfer.
Promotional accounts have their own rules
Prize and giveaway accounts often carry withdrawal caps or close after one payout. Read the firm's terms first.
Does ForRealFunding Have a Free Challenge?
Not a standing one, and we'd rather say so than dress up a trial. We sometimes give away promotional accounts through contests and social media. They trade under the standard rules, have limited withdrawal eligibility (capped at 2% of the account size), may be closed once a payout is processed, and aren't covered by the payout guarantee — the giveaway account terms are published in full.

A 2026 F-Secure investigation traced Instagram ads to Telegram “mentors” who talked victims into paying fees, then asked for their trading login.
