Quick answer

From purchase to a funded account, a realistic range is one to five weeks for a trader who passes without incident.

The evaluation is rarely the slow part. Passing takes one to four weeks at sensible risk, and paying the balance and clearing KYC take a few days more. From there, payout eligibility for each program is set out in the FAQ — and once a payout is approved, it is processed within 24 working hours or ForRealFunding pays $1,500 plus a fee refund.

Total to a funded account: roughly one to five weeks, with your evaluation pace the largest variable.

The arithmetic behind the evaluation

How long an evaluation takes is not a mystery — it falls out of three numbers: your target, your risk per trade, and your payoff ratio.

On a Pay After Pass evaluation the target is 4%. At 0.5% risk per trade:

Reward:riskWin rateTrades to reach 4%
1:155%~80
1:160%~40
2:140%~40
2:150%~16

Read the bottom row against the top one. A trader taking 2:1 setups and winning half of them needs sixteen trades. A trader taking 1:1 setups and winning 55% needs eighty — five times as many, for the same target and the same risk per trade.

At two or three setups a day, sixteen trades is under a fortnight. Eighty is a couple of months.

Compare the standard 1-Step's 10% target: two and a half times the profit required, so two and a half times the trades at any given win rate.

The single biggest lever on speed is your payoff ratio, not your position size. Improving your average winner does more for your timeline than risking more, and it does it without bringing the drawdown limit closer.

Why rushing costs more than it saves

The temptation is obvious: larger positions reach 4% faster. The arithmetic of that trade is worse than it looks.

At 0.5% risk on a $100,000 Pay After Pass account you have 30 consecutive losers of room inside the 15% drawdown. At 2% risk you have 7, and two bad days can end the attempt.

You have not saved a fortnight — you have bought a meaningfully higher chance of restarting from zero, which costs you the whole evaluation period rather than part of it.

Since Pay After Pass evaluations have no time limit and no minimum trading days, there is nothing whatsoever pressuring you to hurry. The cost of taking an extra week is zero. The cost of a breach is the entire attempt.

Where firms with time limits differ

ForRealFunding does not impose an evaluation time limit. Many firms do — commonly 30 days for a phase.

The effect of a deadline is not that it makes evaluations shorter. It is that it produces oversized positions in the final week, from traders at 6% who need 8% and are running out of days. Deadline-driven breaches are one of the more predictable failure modes in this industry, and removing the deadline removes them.

If you are comparing firms, an evaluation with no time limit is worth more than it sounds — not for the flexibility, but for the pressure it does not create.

The delays you actually control

KYC. Required after passing, before the funded account. The delays here are self-inflicted almost every time: an expired passport, a proof of address older than 3 months, a name mismatch. Check your documents in week one of the evaluation, not after you pass. KYC guide.

Paying the remaining balance. On Pay After Pass the funded account activates once the balance settles. Nothing starts until it does.

Starting to trade. Payout eligibility depends on actually trading the funded account — including the 5 minimum trading days — so an account sitting idle has simply delayed its own first payout.

Payout method. Crypto settles faster than most alternatives. Payout methods.

Payout processing

Once a payout request is approved, ForRealFunding processes it within 24 working hours (Monday–Friday, 9:00–17:00). If it misses that window, the Payout Reward Guarantee pays $1,500 compensation plus a refund of your challenge fee. Payout eligibility for each program is set out in the FAQ.

A faster-payout add-on at checkout (15% on top of the program fee) is worth costing out if you intend to withdraw regularly — bi-weekly vs on-demand.

Also worth knowing: the program fee is refunded after your 4th payout on Pay After Pass.

A realistic plan

Week 1: Buy the challenge. Check ID and proof of address the same day. Trade at 0.5% risk.

Weeks 2–3: Continue. Stop the moment you hit 4% — there is no minimum days requirement holding you.

Week 3–4: Pay the balance, complete KYC, re-read the funded rules. Keep the same risk number; the funded daily limit is 3%, not 8%.

Week 4 onward: Trade the funded account. Five minimum trading days accumulate naturally.

Once eligible: Request your first payout — processed within 24 working hours of approval, or $1,500 plus a fee refund. Eligibility for your program is in the FAQ.

Bottom line

One to five weeks to a funded account for most traders who pass cleanly, with the evaluation shorter than most people expect — then your program's payout eligibility, set out in the FAQ, and processing within 24 working hours once a payout is approved.

The way to be faster is a better payoff ratio and prepared KYC documents — not larger positions, which mostly make you slower by making you start again.

Pay After Pass from $9.99: 4% to reach, 15% of static room, no time limit and no minimum days, so the timeline is yours to set.

Frequently Asked Questions

6 questions answered

How long does it take to pass a prop firm challenge?

At sensible risk, most traders who pass take one to four weeks. The arithmetic drives it: a 4% target at 0.5% risk per trade and a 1:1 payoff needs a net eight winning trades, which at two or three setups a day is a matter of weeks rather than months. Larger targets take proportionally longer.

How long until my first payout after passing?

Payout eligibility for each ForRealFunding program is set out in the FAQ, and 5 minimum trading days on the funded account are also required. Once a payout is approved it is processed within 24 working hours (Monday–Friday, 9:00–17:00) — if not, ForRealFunding pays $1,500 compensation plus a challenge-fee refund under its Payout Reward Guarantee. A faster-payout add-on is also available at checkout.

Can I get funded in a week?

On a Pay After Pass evaluation, yes — there is no minimum trading days requirement and no time limit, so hitting the 4% target ends the evaluation immediately. Whether you should try is another question: reaching 4% in a few days means large positions, and the sizing that gets there quickly is the sizing that breaches accounts.

What is the slowest part of getting funded?

Usually the steps around the trading rather than the evaluation itself. Passing can take a fortnight; the funded account then has to meet its program's payout eligibility, which is set out in the FAQ. KYC delays and incomplete verification extend things further, and those are entirely within your control.

Do time limits affect how long it takes?

They change the pressure more than the duration. ForRealFunding's evaluations have no time limit, which removes any incentive to force trades near a deadline. At firms with a 30-day evaluation window, the deadline itself becomes a source of oversized positions in the final week — one of the more common causes of a late-stage breach.

Is it faster to use instant funding?

Yes, by the length of the evaluation — instant funding starts you on a funded account the same day. Payout eligibility still applies on the funded account, so you reach a first withdrawal roughly two to four weeks sooner overall, at full price upfront and on tighter trailing rules from your first trade.
